Picture
On New Year’s Day, my “Artsy” sister e-mailed me this, and I have decided to forward it to you to wish you a Happy New Year.

By the way, Cocotte, as my Artsy sister calls her, is made with the inside of empty toilet paper rolls.

The New Year is the choice time to envision an excellent, enjoyable, fulfilling and rewarding 2021, affirming The Force how you want the new year to be, and it will be so.

Write your affirmation down for you to assess what you envisioned.  Remember also to be alone in the picture.

Yes, have a happy 2021,
Anny

P.S. - Cocotte, meaning a young chick, is a fun and sweet name usually addressed to a cute young girl who has the art of wrapping everybody around her little finger!

Happy Anniversary, ACHE!

6/1/2020

Dear Friends

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of ACHE. At this time we celebrate our organization and its role in setting Hypnotherapy standards, independent of influence and control by a proprietor or private interests, and promoting Hypnotherapy throughout the world.

Our organization, as a 501 corporation, relies upon the loyalty and dedication of its members - our Board, and the Committees who work on our policies and report to the Board, are all served by volunteers. Positions on the Committees are open to members in good standing for a minimum of one year, and as vacancies arise we look for new volunteers. If you would like to put your name down to be considered when a vacancy arises, please fill in the form which you can find on the sidebar of our website:
https://hypnotistexaminers.org/application-to-serve-on-a-committee/.

Membership of a Committee involves usually monthly online meetings, with some intervening correspondence. Committees gather information, research feasible options and report conclusions and recommendations to the Board - they are also often interesting, enjoyable and a way to connect with others committed to our profession.

This year we also mark the 10th anniversary of the passing of Gil Boyne, in May 2010. For many of us who knew him personally, his memory is still vivid, and his teaching is still alive in his writings, audio recordings and films, as well as in the ongoing effects of his impact on clients, students and friends. The profession of Hypnotherapy owes much to Gil and we remember and celebrate his many achievements.

With my best wishes to you all

John

Gil Boyne, Spirits and Me

Hello to all HTI Graduates!

I am sure you noticed a new type of hypnosis is advertised, namely Spiritual Hypnosis.

That reminds me of a time when Doreen Hanna, Dianne Meilli and I went to Los Angeles to attend a Past Life Therapy Conference in October 1992.  Being in Los Angeles, I had made an appointment to visit Gil Boyne, our venerable mentor.

As we were meeting, Gil asked me to follow him to his office.  Once there, he made me sit in a very nice armchair, and him sitting about one meter if front of me started to give me a good lecture, letting me know that I would have much more students if I would stop talking about spirits.

"Gil," I said, wanting to talk.  Lifting his right hand to shut me up, he said "I am not finished."

Having finished giving me a lecture, Gil said "You can talk now."

I explained to him that he teaches the mind is deductive, going effect back to cause, and I am teaching my students everything so they can help their clients wherever their clients went, regardless their own beliefs, honoring their clients beliefs.

About six years later, answering the phone, the voice said "Anny.  Gil Boyne here!"
I was so surprised, a good thing I was sitting at my desk!

And then Gil explained that hypnosis schools last only three to five years and close shop.

The Hypnotism Training Institute of Alberta is one of the oldest schools.

And congratulating me, he said "You must be doing the right thing."

And so it is,
Anny

Do We Get What We See In Our Mind?

3/31/2019

Picture
Is it important to consciously visualize what we want?   As a Hypnotherapist, you know it is so!

A new research by the University of Plymouth and Queensland University recently published that overweight people who used a new motivational intervention called Functional Imagery Training (FIT) lost an average of five times more weight than those using talking therapy alone.

In my book, The Four Mental Agreements to Loosing Weight, in the chapter Defining the Boundaries, I explain they should remember to look at themselves objectively in the mirror and in their mind reshape their body.

As well and like it or not, to be on “automatic slim” they must address their mental block, that subconscious fixed idea regarding weight.

Looking in the mirror and reshaping their body,  they then slim down in a very pleasant way, and once having reached their goal, just stop looking at themselves in the mirror, reshaping their body.

And then, surprise!  Having dismissed their mental block, their stubborn subconscious fixed idea about weight, they are then getting the weight they lost back plus more, and decide that this does not work!

Thank you for reading me.

Hugs,
Anny

What We Focus On Is What We Get

8/16/2017

Picture
Something came to my awareness this morning.  You know I do care, the reason I decided to share it with you.

As you know, WHAT WE FOCUS ON IS WHAT WE GET.

However, do we realise to what extend we focus on something?

When a focus becomes an obsession, our attitude shifts and we are disregarding everything else, caught in the obsession.  For example:

One of the two business partners, owners of a very good business, found a new lover.  Obsessed in that love and focusing on how to get cautiously out of his marriage, the partner became totally disinterested in the business.

He became totally despondent to the point he wants to close the business, not even thinking of alternatives, just like asking his business partner to buy him out.

In conclusion:  We are all volunteers, victims of our own thoughts.

I hope this will give an insight of what you are focusing on when things are not going well in your life.

Cheers,
Anny

Put It on the Shelf

5/19/2017

Picture
The joy of teaching and being in this profession is that students share their awareness with me.  As you know, on the first day of class, I explain that sometimes what is taught challenges their beliefs.

Gesturing, I then ask when that happens, to please put whatever they do not agree with on the shelf for future assessment.  It is with the student’s permission and with gratitude that I am sharing with you a letter I just received:

Subject: "Put it on the shelf"
I had a realization of why the "put it on the shelf" visualization works so effectively. I want to share it with you.

I found myself contemplating the circumstances leading to an event. After achieving some progress, I began to notice a deep sadness within me. Understanding that I had reached a point that I was no longer making progress and just sitting in the feeling of sadness, I decided to "put it on the shelf", sleep on it, and come back to it.

I noticed the picture in my mind of this decision. I reached into my chest, pulled the feeling of sadness out of my chest, and placed it up onto the shelf above my head. As it moved upward from my chest to the shelf I felt the feeling of sadness dissipate completely.

This brought my thoughts to something you had mentioned in class. When someone looks up, they are avoiding emotion. When they look down, they are accessing the emotion. This is why we bring their focus down (for example, into their chest) to bring them into their emotion.

I then realized the true power of the shelf analogy.

When someone is uncomfortable or unsure of their feelings, belief, or attitude about what they are being told, putting that "up" on the shelf moves it to a place out of emotion. There it can sit on the shelf, objectively without judgement of good or bad, right or wrong, for as long as it wants to, without hitting the "save button".

How to Talk to the Universe, and What to Say.  Or, What I Learn and How I Pass it on to my Students.

12/29/2016

Picture
There are always two sides to any story.

When I tripped and heavily fell in the yard last April, I was limited in my physical activities for 8 weeks, but not my mental activities.  I used that time to allow the resulting hematoma to heal, followed by having my right hip put back into place (this went smooooothly, having done self hypnosis about it).  The Chiropractor gently touched the tip of my hip and it gently and effectively slid back into place.

During that time, I had plenty of opportunity to hone affirmations and the like and observe the results of my adjusted affirmations.  As the months were passing by, my clients life experiences as well as my own life experiences gave me new insights into our ways of helping others as well as helping myself at having a pleasant and enriching life, regardless the economy of the country we live in as well as what our planet Earth is experiencing right now.

It was through this last year’s experiences that I developed, adjusted, tested and measured the results of my affirmations that I came to know the most effective methods and practices to talk to the universe and have it truly understand what it was that I was asking for. These methods are successful.  They work.  I’ve seen it myself and so have many of my friends, students and clients that I have shared these methods with.

There is so much new information to pass on to you that I am suggesting to you to review any class of your choice at the special review fee posted on the registration page Course Fees and Registration.   A Continuing Education Certificate will be given to you at the end of the class. (as well as a great deal of new information!)

To all of our students, clients, and friends, I look forward to many more years of providing one of the most comprehensive and effective hypnosis training in the world.

I look forward to seeing you soon and assisting you in learning more about hypnosis in all its forms and applications.

Sincerely yours,
Anny Slegten  M.H.  C.C.H.T.

The End Result is What Matters.  Not So Much the Process.

9/30/2016

Picture
Whatever you desire to have or to accomplish, do you keep searching on “how to” obtain it?

Focusing on “how to” is like running on a treadmill... you are running as hard as you can and getting nowhere, staying put.

Whatever is your “what for”, is also a subtle way of procrastination.  How come?  Because the focus is on “how to” instead of the end result.  And when you keep yourself busy at figuring out “how to", you are avoiding the end result!

Yes, figuring it out.  The picture is seeing yourself "figuring", not the end result.

Hugs,
Anny

HYP 101 and the Puzzle Analogy

4/15/2016

Picture
As you know, a conversation with one of you is often the catalyst at sending you a note.

Remember the puzzles in HYP 101 used as an analogy?  After having chosen a puzzle showing a picture we like, we usually first complete the easiest part: the frame.

We then proceed at putting parts of the puzzle together and place them inside the assembled frame.

In life, to consciously accomplish anything, everything we do must complete the puzzle, our vision.

Just sitting there, legged crossed, thumbs and middle finger touching, seeing what we want will accomplish nothing.

We are here on this planet to have a physical experience.

Yes, there must be congruency.  Just like assembling the pieces of a puzzle to complete the picture, to consciously obtain anything, we must take action, keeping the end result in mind.

Our action must match our desire, our vision.

Yes, I repeat: Our action must match our desire, our vision, keeping the end result in mind.

In plain English, it is called “Walking your talk.”

Love you all,
Anny

The Answer is in the Question

2/22/2016

Picture
An important question was asked during a surrogate session:

Do you love having a daughter?
OR

Do you love your daughter?

The answer to “love having a daughter” revealed an interesting “what for”.

Therefore, I am asking you to ask yourself:

Do you love having a wife/husband?  OR  Do you love your wife/husband?
Do you love having a boyfriend/girlfriend?  OR  Do you love your boyfriend/girlfriend?
Do you love having a son/daughter?  OR  Do you love your son/daughter?
Do you love having a job?  OR  Do you love your job?

And you can go on and on.  The answer must be either, or.

Got you?

I love you all,
Anny

Best Profession in the World!

12/1/2014

Picture
DID YOU KNOW that being a hypnotherapist is the best profession in the world?

When we work with a client, we are in a trance as well.  So each time we give a suggestion to a client, we also give it to ourselves.  Yes, we sure do, and a hypnotherapist was kind enough to share his following experience with me, not realising what he was doing at the time.

He was extensively advertising natural breast enlargement with hypnotherapy sessions and this with great success.  This, by the way, is very easy to do, as well as using hypnotherapy sessions for penis enlargement.

The hypnotherapist suddenly stopped working with his clients who were coming for breast enlargement sessions when he noticed that he was starting to develop rather nice breasts himself.

Yes, without realising it, he was suggesting breast enlargement to himself as well as to his clients. Although I worked two times with clients wanting penis enlargement since 1984, I am sure you understand how come I do not advertise hypnotherapy for penis enlargement.

However, what is the message here?

As a hypnotherapist, we know when a person is in a trance without formal induction, and so are we.

What are our thoughts about another person when our emotion gets us in an altered state of awareness?

Remember, being in a trance oneself, those thoughts become self-addressed suggestions.

I am observing one of you in an emotional state focussing some highly destructive thoughts to others.

I care about you all, the reason I am writhing this.

To quote Ramtha, the Ram, "Focus is a holy place".

Hugs, as always,
Anny

Plan 'A' or Plan 'B'?

8/12/2014

Picture
There is something very special about teaching adults: You all come with your own skills and experiences, and share it with us all. And I love it.

So here I was teaching HYP 101 and one student was explaining to the class that she had cataract surgery. One of the eyes was not properly done. The doctor reassuring her said “That is okay if it does not work properly, we can re-do the operation”.

So here she was. She could not drive or anything because she could not see properly.  A friend of hers of the age of her daughter in her 20’s, learned about it and went to see her.

And she said it was the most interesting thing.  This young lady was right in her face, and said “So, because Plan A did not work you are ready for Plan B?”

“Yeah” was the answer.  So, said the young lady, "therefore, you already chose Plan B did  you not?  Well did you not realize something, that when we have Plan A and Plan B, Plan B is always the one that we do.”

“Uh oh.” was the answer. So she discarded Plan B and focused only on Plan A, and I mean, only on Plan A that said it was a good surgery, and that it worked, and so forth.  And when she went to be checked out again to get the second surgery, to the doctor’s surprise the eye was now fine.

And the planned surgery was cancelled.

And when she came here, it was the first time she was able to drive a long distance by herself all the way from Saskatchewan, because she could finally see.

We started to talk about this, and how one will say “well yes, if this does not work, then I am going to do that”.  The student explained that by having a Plan B, we have already established that we will fail, and that we will take Plan B.

What is the solution here?  It is that if we look at ourselves, we usually think that if it does not work out, we have a back-up plan.  Well just watch it!  We do not realize that when we do that, we have already planned that we will fail.  So it is important to have only one thought, and focus only on that thought, no matter what happens.

The thing is this:  What do you want... Plan A or Plan B?

I would like you to think about this:  How many times do we have a Plan B, a back-up plan, if Plan A does not work?

Many students take all the courses and are all gung ho for it, the whole thing, we are going to do it, but you know what?  If it does not work they go back to work to their old job.  So they are planning failure before they even started.  Instead of having just a Plan A: okay they have a job, they continue to hold the job and they start the other job part time. The moment the part time job starts to be very comfortable financially, they can leave the first job.  That is only one plan, it is not “if it does not work I can go back to my old job.

Having only a plan A requires of actually making the commitment saying "this is what I am going to do" and then just keep on doing it until it goes.  There are bumps, as in any learning process.  There is always going to be something that distracts you or gets in your way and if you do not have the focus of ‘this is what you are going to do', you end up letting that distraction or that road block stop you and divert you back to where you were, or something else, instead of actually going around it or through it or over it or whatever it is you need to do.

As the conversations went on, I realised that plan B is the comfort zone.

It is like a security blanket.

In fact, it is resisting a change. We all want to change, and we will do it screaming and kicking.

Therefore, simply delete the word 'change' and replace it with 'improvement'.

In a way, the comfort zone is like a mental block.  It is a deep fear, an emotional fear of something that is embedded in us as a mental block so we do not have to deal with the fear.

I want you all to be successful at improving your life. How will that awareness  about the Plan A and Plan B help you?  How is that going to help you? It is all up to you.

As I was thinking of it all, I found myself holding a book I bought several years ago... and did not read. The title of the book must have intrigued me since I bought it:

'Creating Affluence, Wealth Consciousness in the Field of All Possibilities', by Deepak Chopra, M.D.

Opening the book, the title of the chapter that came up by accident (?) read: "I" stands for the power of unbending intent or intention.

In order to acquire wealth - or for that matter anything in the physical universe -  you must intend it, make a decision to go for it. The decision is unchangeable with fixity of purpose, not countermanded by anything.

The universe handles the details, organises and orchestrates opportunities. You have   simply to be alert to these opportunities.

Thank you for reading me. You know I love what I do. I do care about you all, the reason I am sharing this with you.

With respect,

Anny

How Do You Create Your Future?

3/3/2014

Picture
Some of the most interesting answers I heard were:
"The future is the future. It comes whatever we do. So, just let it happen." or "I am visualising things all day long, and nothing happens." or even better, "God decides the future. God creates our future. Whatever will happens is out of our control.".

Well, talk about feeling as a victim of whoever or whatever.  Our Soul lives in a physical body, and just sitting there, legs crossed, a finger of each hand touching the thumb will not do. Our actions must match our want.

As our Attila explained:
Wanting to win at the lottery, a woman was on her knees at the side of her bed, praying "God, let me win at the Lottery."  This went on for several days until God yelled back "Buy a ticket!"

As hypnotherapist, going from effect back to cause, our clients taught us that like it or not, we are the ones who create the results of our thoughts.

So, how does that happen?  God, whoever or whatever we perceive God to be, responds to pictures created by our thoughts.  To quote Ramtha in The Magical Brain: Doorway to a Master's Reality you all saw in HYP 202, "Your wants will come upon the conditions you put them on".

Think about it:  Winning at the Lottery to be able to pay off the mortgage.  Well, what is the condition? winning at the Lottery, and what is the resulting focus ?  Mortgage.

I keep explaining this in HYP 101. Remember?  Yes, I know, you learned this a loooonnng time ago. Maybe it is time for you to review HYP 101.

What you focus on is what you get.  And what we usually focus on is the immediate gain, not looking at the big picture, the long term results of our focus.  Manipulators at changing their environments to their liking are good at this, until the long term results appear.

An other way to blow our vision, the future we want, is to put others in our vision, our picture.  How come? Because we all have our individual "what is in it for me".  How would you respond to being in somebody else's picture in a situation contrary to your own vision?

So, how do you create a future that you want?  Being alone in your picture, focussing on it, your actions congruent with your vision.  Remember, your focus is like a lighthouse.

I receive many comments about the analogy of the lighthouses I am explaining in HYP 101.  Remember, your focus is like a light house, your light house.

All the testimonials about the lighthouses are hearth warming. I chose the following one because I can publish it in its entirety and keep the author' s privacy.

Anny -
I am so grateful I picked you for my first lighthouse.  Your therapy has given me peace and healing. I cannot thank you enough for that.  Also, thank you for the knowledge and growth you have given me.  I want you to know I will honour and respect your teaching for you, myself and my clients.  Many, many thanks Anny.
Gratefully,
(signed and class year)

Wonder what prompted me at writing this?

Recently, I again observed one of you shooting yourself in the foot, derailing a wonderful, gratifying future at all levels by the way you envision it. Interesting enough, it is again by the condition that was put on it....

I do care about you all.

Respectfully submitted,
Anny

The 3 Stages to Physical Life

2/9/2014

Picture
Clients can give us an interesting perspective on life, especially when they enter their later years.

Our physical life could be divided in three parts.

The first part is the time we grow up, usually certain that we know it all, and getting prepared for adult life, figuring out what is needed to live or maybe merely survive.

It can be compared to ploughing a field, getting it ready for sowing.

After ploughing the field comes the second part of life, the time to sow. We are very busy living, and we all go though it in our very individual way, so busy that we vaguely think of the future, unless maybe the financial aspect of it. Very few people realise they are in fact sowing something they will harvest later, Yes, it is interesting to observe the results of their way of going through life.

The third part of life is harvesting what we sowed.

I have a client going through this, the reason I have decided to write what I observed.

Making a lot of money, his happiness was only externally based, dependant on the money and a carefree lifestyle.

Now, by a turn of events, he suddenly lost all his physical good  looks and strength and  was dropped out of the work force. Having led a superficial life, he now became a nobody and feels desperate and empty, the reason he came to see me, wanting to know how to fill up the void inside.

He was looking at other things or people to fill the void and was wondering if hypnosis and hypnotherapy sessions will give him that, even taking HYP 101, our  two day course. I explained it will only do it if he looks inside of himself, and his answer was "How?, I do not know how!"

That man never nurtured anything, anyone, not even himself. His search for instant gratification was only externally based, dependant on what a person or financial gain could give him, ever elusive, and going after more, only focusing on the status, reputation and perceived importance of what he was doing. I asked him if he knew the difference between having sex and making love, he looked down at his feet and said "... probably not, because it was just for fun".

As the conversation went, answering my questions, he admitted never even bothering to  look at the beauty in a flower, observing a bee head down between the petals, filling itself up with nectar and flying away to the beehive. The only thing interesting to him was immediate physical gratification, totally immersed into the "me now".

Remember, The third part of life is harvesting what we sowed.

It always comes should we have the courage to live long enough to go through it.

There is a simple solution to it all:

Who are you?

Is your self value based on what you do or is your self value based on who you are deep inside?  The answer usually becomes crystal clear when we reach the third part of our life, harvesting what we were busy sowing.

As hypnotherapists, we learned that one always harvests what was sowed.

It is by far better to have the courage to face it now while in the present physical part of our Soul's journey than once back into the Universal Field.

Respectfully yours,
Anny
